Deia was raised on the outskirts of society by her human mother. She never met her elven father – and her mother had never been too keen to talk about him. She and her mother lived in a small, mostly-human tribe deep in the woods. Deia grew up with animals as her companions and the rustle of bramble and oak as her music. Her tribe was her family, even if they didn’t always get along.

The only druid in the tribe – a grumpy old man with no teeth – taught her most everything she knows about spellcasting and shaping her affinity towards nature. To fill her days, she helped others make their way through the forests and helped guide lost travellers to safety, and practiced her spells on unsuspecting animals. She laughed around the campfire.

And then she got bored. Really, really bored.

The routine was nice enough, and it’s not like she never went anywhere, but she wanted something more. Something different. She wanted change. Her mother called her reckless. Her mentor said she’d die the instant she stepped into a city.

Deia didn’t listen to their comments. She just wanted to feel alive, to meet new people, and to live life to the absolute fullest while she still could.

So, she wandered.
